Current Version
WOW!!!
OK, I have to say, once I got the csv file formatted, it worked GREAT! A few simple clicks and it was instantly done...I really love the auto-generated password feature.
I put the data into an excel sheet and saved it as a csv, imported it and bingo! Perfection.146 emails, usernames and passwords in lickety split. SuWeet!

Didn't work for me
This addon did not work for me (just got a bunch of errors upon import, even though my CSV file was formatted in the exact way the instructions described). The developer did offer to help, which I appreciate, but unfortunately it was too late as I had to code up my own solution to meet a deadline.
I'm sorry your having difficulty with this add-on. Can you send along your CSV. I will gladly test and solve your issues.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Quick solution
This add-on did exactly what we needed. We were running out of time and although a client's site was completed we still had 1000 users to import in order to give them access to the private, members-only section.
The sample CSV header is a really intuitive way to help us figure out what needs to go where.
Thanks!

Doesn't work. Doesn't easily import groups. Poor support.
1. I haven't been able to get this to work at all. Obviously, others have, so there's something about my setup. Based on the error messages, I don't think that the add-on properly handles all types of line feeds. I filed a support request 2 weeks ago and haven't gotten any response at all.
2. My current project has about 2 dozen groups and users in many permutations of these groups (a, a & b, a & c, c, etc). This add-on does not handle this scenario at all. Rather than specifying a user's groups per user (as part of the row, like the email address), you specify the groups PER IMPORT. So, every user in a particular import (ie, file) gets added to the selected groups. When you have maybe 50 permutations like we do, this is add-on is completely unworkable. Also, the group list is artificially limited to 10 groups. It's almost unbelievable oversight. I filed a support request over 2 weeks ago, got a "we'll look into it" shortly thereafter, and nothing since.
3. Finally, I'm not totally impressed by its flexibility. I was expecting the ability to have columns in different orders, not all columns present (in which case it would skip them), etc. Ideally even a little wizard with drop-downs to match up "first name" in the excel with "first" user attribute. Instead, the instructions imply you need all fields in the proper order. It does create a template excel file that you can download, which is nice.

I'm sorry you don't find this add-on helpful. It was never intended for the power user application you describe, which is why it is priced so reasonably.
We are currently working on a beefed up version of this add-on based on the feedback received from you and many others that have more custom applications in mind.

Does what it says!
Thanks so much for this add on. It saved me sooooooo much time 136 users with attribs in no time. :) The only thing that should be noted, and it might have been noted, is that it doesn't add values to a select attribute but simply leaves them blank. That would be an awesome feature if it did. But the go around is just make sure you have all the select options already included, and testing on another install first doesn't hurt. It's a great plugin though.
Before 2.0
Nice Import Tool
I run a sport club website. Can hardly code anything so am reliant on good add-ons. This one allows me to easily import just my club members details from a national database. But since members come and go and their details change and there are annual renewals as well, I can't wait for you to develop the 'Update & Delete" features you have said are coming soon!! Good Luck with it. I await with baited breath! :-))
Great Timesaver
With hundreds of users to migrate from my homebrew database I was worried, but this utility made it almost painless. The address field format was a little confusing, but the import does exactly what it should...
Excellent Addon
This is sorely needed - and well thought out and delivered. Does just what it says, and the custom Excel download with the specific user attributes from YOUR site makes it very user-friendly.
I had some issues with timeouts, even though I didn't have that many user attribute fields (~15). I could only upload about 80 at a time, which could cause problems if I had a really large dataset. But that's not at ALL a fault of the plugin - just server timeout limitations.
Well done Moortown. I've beat you up a bit on some of your other add-ons, but this one is spot-on. Looking forward to the ability to mass-update users. Highly recommended to all.

Seems robust and does what it says
I imported just over 100 users into a new site with no trouble at all. All attributes imported first time.
I would advise doing what I did and do a full db backup first, then if you encounter odd issues you can tinker with your CSV file and/or C5 install and re-try the import. For instance, I found that phone numbers were not fully imported as they contained spaces and I had that attribute set as a 'Number' type. I restored the database, changed the attribute type to 'Text' and tried again. All good.

Correction first 3s review.
Hi Bil,
thank you for your swift reply at my review.
I was thrown off due to an additional note in the import page;
This import does NOT handle custom attributes (those outside of a default Concrete5 install), so don't try to import them. -> So no, I did not try :D
I have now succesfully imported the users including their custom attributes.
Thank you for the swift reply and therefor helping towards another happy client :)

Actually you can import additional attributes more than username, password, and email.
In your CSV just put the handle of the user attribute in and it should work. There are detailed instructions on the import screen of the add-on.
The only limitation of the add-on is that it doesn't import custom attribute TYPES which it states in the info screen before you buy.
Hope this clears that up for you.

Dissapointed by data limitation
I have bought this addon to import user data for 400 people. As it is correct that you can import information into attributes, this is not available for custom user attributes which I expected (and need :) ).
Unfortunately I do not see how I can even import a users first and lastname correctly since the only basic C5 user fields are;
- username
- password
- email
If it had the possibility to import custom attributes it would have been worth the money.

Great Work! It saved my client some time and money
I think there are other features that would be nice to see but your add-on is well priced for most needs.
As a suggestion, your CSV example might be expanded to handle address data - I couldn't get it to work due to lack of documentation/examples but it wasn't a huge issue for us in the end. I like the idea of a comma list of groups at a user level too but you are right to charge more for an advanced tool with such features. People need to understand developers need to eat! I look forward to seeing more of your work.
