No Upgrade Path?
Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hey Justin,
Hope all is well and congrats on the new version. I remember before buying ver 1.x, I asked specifically if all upgrades would be included. This appears not to be the case.
Is there at least an upgrade path to ver 2.x? Also the need to buy another addon to use the current version is a little surprising. Hope all is well and look forward to hearing back regarding the above.
Thanks,
Doug

Hey Justin - I purchased Advanced Forms the other day, I also previously bought Data Display, I'm wanting to download the new version to test it out but if I go to download it through my past purchases I still get the old version - how can I go about getting the updated version?
Hi Justin,
I bought both today and realized later that I allready had the old version of data display. Now, I read that this was not necessary. Is there anyway to get a refund?
Don't get me wrong: normaly I would not have asked, because I support good work, but the license fee for both is quiet high.
I will be happy if there is a way to pay less at the moment. And buy another license if I use it in a customer project.
thanks, phil.

xs2 go tohttp://www.concrete5.org/help/legal/refund-policy/... to request a refund.
I got the refund. thank you, Justin.
Hursey013, I've granted you a license to Data Display.
Right now I'm having to do all these manually by request, for a couple of reasons (people may not want to upgrade, cause they may not want to purchase Advanced Forms).

That's a good point. maybe like Wordpress plugins, offer downloads to previous versions for legacy apps.
Thanks,
Doug

Great, thank you.
Hey Justin,
I was actually referring to a conversation we had prior to any notice of the upcoming requirements on the old DD page. Regardless, I think you better clarify to previous owners the cost/process of upgrading. I was confused as well when the old version was still available as a download.
And of course it's your decision on pricing structure, but having the cost of the addon being more than the main product itself seems a little like sticker shock.
You might want to offer owners of ver 1.x a better upgrade path. That said, no one wants to see a good developer go unpaid. We of course appreciate your continued good work.
Thanks,
Doug

I felt that it was pretty clear on the old Data Display page that yes, if you purchased a previous version of Data Display, you would be granted a license to the new version, but that you would still have to purchase the new Advanced Forms. I apologize if there was any confusion.
With regard to upgrading, because the new version of Data Display is significantly different than the previous version, it doesn't automatically upgrade everything, but there are tools built-in to both Advanced Forms and Data Display that make the transition pretty easy. I'll try to put together a quick walk-through of that today and post it to the documentation section of the Data Display page.
