Site slow in edit mode for datdiaplay pages

We are having slowness on our site in edit mode. Datadisplay seems to be playing into this. The top command on server shows MySQL using up the cpu. display processlist shows this:

We have a lot of pages using the Advanced forms and Datadisplay. Someone said to try converting the sixeight tables to InnoDB from the MyISAM type. It did not seem to like that. Tables are back to MyISAM. Are their any adjustments we can make to it to not have it impact performance.
