Two sub-sites, hide top level

Permalink Browser Info Environment
I use the domain mapper to point two subdomains of my main domain at two sites I manage, let's say site1.mydomain.com and site2.mydomain.com, while the c5 base URL is at another subdomain, let's call it base.mydomain.com. Now I would like to avoid people to see URLs with the base.mydomain.com subdomain, in particular I don't want search engines to show up pages with these URLs. Is there a way to prevent this?

Also, is there a way to automatically redirect users going to base.mydomain.com/siteX/path to siteX.mydomain.com/siteX/path, where X=1,2?

So, if site1 and site2 are primary and secondary sites and you don't want anyone to see the base site, I think the easiest way would be to create a mod-rewrite rule ( see:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/mod/mod_rewrite.html)... that would look for the base domain and redirect to the site1 domain.
