Can't get support - can't get to post unless in admin

wmdevserver
I'm pretty frustrated after paying for this addon.
I've been trying to get support but no response what so ever.

The forms post ok to Paypal when logged in, but not on the live site.
I just want to hear from the developer if they know what this is about, or if it is my problem.
Either way I now have to look elsewhere for my clients.

cheers
Andrew

Great Add-On. Quick to install and configure, Displays well and functionality is great! I would recommned this to anyone trying to setup up registration for any event and the ability to pay within the same registration. Easy for the website owner as they only have to check their email to receive all of the informaiton and that payment has been received.

Cheers

Needs improvement, slow response

nicolechung
I've been using this plugin for about six months, and here is my review.

Slow response:
I've had a few issues to issues. I posted to the support forum on February 21st and it is now March 5th. I understand that people do go on holidays, get sick, or are othewise busy, but I haven't had any sort of response, not even a "Hi I'm away but I'll take a look when I get back". At this point I would say that this plugin is not very well supported.

Issues I have found or discovered.
1. Checkboxes and radio buttons currently don't appear as "red" if they are required and the user doesn't fill it out. However, the form won't submit unless a required checkbox or radiobutton is checked, which is good. For the form I am building, I need the user to "sign" a form, hence why I need a checkbox as "required". Even if it's hard to style the actual checkbox/radio button as red, it would be nice if the background behind it was marked with an "error" colour.

2. The forms are built with tables, which is the same as the concrete5 form block. Still however it would be nice to have a "plain" template that provides a form without table tags.

3. For longer forms with many questions there are several issues. One is that instead of drag-and-drop, the questions can only be reordered using up and down buttons, which can be a total pain if you have twenty two questions and you need to move question #22 to #1. The other issue is when you press the "edit" button, you have to scroll all the way to the top to see the edit fields for that particular question. This has caused me grief with several clients who have pressed the link to edit a question and think the question that they want to edit is simply not appearing.

4. The emails from this addon are sent using php's mail function, instead of concrete5's mail helper. This is a pain because if you set SMTP settings in your dashboard, it won't apply to the emails being sent here. I do not like php mail because often email sent this way ends up in a user's spam/junk bin. For example, if you are building an events registration with this addon, many people will not receive an email which is a total pain.

Of all these issues, it is the last two (emails ending up in spam, clients unable to edit the form without help) that cause me the most grief.

Works like a charm, instant to install

This add-on instantly solved a number of problems. My non-tech clients have to independently add registration forms for events, and with this form block they can do it. And they can collect different types of information for each event.

Its strength is capturing registration and membership form data right in the dashboard so that folks can generate an excel speadsheet on the fly.

In the next release, it would be nice to have an option to add text (instructions, sub-headings) to the form! Other "form makers" do this. For now, I'm having to take all the instructions out of my form and group them into a fairly unreadable paragraph.

But, overall, pretty satisfied.

Shouldn't be too much of a chore, I wouldn't think.

Sorry to hear your having problems. After hundreds of customers, no one has experienced that problem yet. Actually, it sounds like it could be a conflict with your Theme. Thanks for for making a Support request too; we can continue with the resolution on there.

Hi

I haven't bought this particular add-on but I would like to know if it is a straightforward email or if a user fills in a form and then for thet form to be emailed.

One of the best on Concrete5

thebigideasman
I have to say, I really love this app. It's easy to understand and work with from a site builder and a registered CMS users (clients) perspective. And as a mid level eComerce tool it's reasonably flexible on it's uses too, assuming your business payment model is not complicated, otherwise I go for one of the more chunkier apps, like C5's own eCommerce app etc.

But the big plus is, that on the "very rare" occasion that there has been any problem, the service and help from this developer is second to none. I can't fault the developers professionalism and the customer aftercare.

Thanks bud

I purchased this add-on recently and have been happy with it so far. The program works well and the support was excellent. If I was to quibble it would be with the lack of customisation options (font sizes, date formats etc) but that's just because I am a klutz at CSS and PHP but it does what I want and I think it's well worth the money.

Simple to use but very basic functionality. Only creates vertical lists. no totals

blackpoolmagic
The form builder is simple enough to use, but only has limited options. The only questions you can really ask are simple text boxes or check buttons.

There are no calculations done. So you don't have the option to add sub totals or even a total cost to the form. You cant allow the user to enter the number of items required. This in part can be overcome by using a drop down box with 1 item =£5, 2 items =£10 etc. But again you cant show the total cost.

On the second tab you can organise the boxes, but this is limited to just deciding what order you want them in within a vertical list. You cant actually move the text boxes around the form, have them in columns, or even adjust the dimensions of a text box. You simply get what you are given, the only thing you can change is the vertical order of the questions.

Design wise, again there is no option other than reordering the list. there are no graphic elements, colours, fonts or backgrounds you can change. It may be possible to change some basic page colours using other methods, But I'm not sure how to do that. In the past I have used other form designers (which I wont mention here). And these have allowed me to edit all graphical elements and layouts to produce an attractive looking form that complements my site.

This app does make easier adding your paypal information, and tracking the results in your concrete dashboard. But (in my opinion) it lacks a great deal of form options and basic functionality. I feel the biggest omission from this app is the inability to display a total. I feel this is essential when people are buying something. One might argue that showing totals and allowing multiple items to be purchased is more of a shopping cart, than a single form. But this app is intended for use with paypal. So what use is a paypal form if you cant even show a total, or allow people to select how many items they want. For selling a single fixed item, it will probably suffice all be it not pretty. (but basic paypal buttons are free anyway)

But for an attractive form, layout options, graphics and the ability to add sub totals, amounts and a total. You really need to be looking at some of the alternatives. Check out the screen shots. what you see is what you get - but nothing more.

Huge Time and Money Saver

ltinnel
In 2012, we used a registration service for our conference. They were keeping over 12% of the registration fees and held on to the money for months before dispersing to us. Paypal, in contrast, keeps 2.9% + $0.30 for each registration fee and pays out immediately. Last year I went through the hassle of setting up a Paypal account and rolled our own registration system using Forms With PayPal/Credit Card Payment. The plugin was relatively easy to use to set up our registration page. This year, I just updated the cost and language and wallah! Instant registration system with almost no pain.

There are definitely some needed improvements that would make this a stellar product. Most of these have been noted by other reviewers. Our registration forms are designed to collect a lot of information about our participants, so the forms are rather long. It would be nice to have a better way to add and move questions. E.g., I'd love to be able to insert a question between two other questions.

I did encounter a few bugs when trying to update the large form this year, but I'm two levels back on the plug in, so these bugs may be fixed by now.

All in all, I'm very pleased. This plugin has been a huge time and money saver for me.

The add-on works as described, but new users of the add-on should reference this post in the forums RE: troubleshooting,http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/forms-with-paypal-payme... The add-on also doesn't work when a form is added to a page with pretty URLs. The developer hopes to have this fixed in a future update. Support was a little slow but satisfactory.
