After calling Pempsell Design to learn more about the plugin, I felt comfortable with the purchase and function that SMS Go provides. I tested the signup with a mobile number. Within around 2 seconds, I received an text saying that I had been signed up. The text shows the originating email address in the Configuration page and tells the recipient that they can unsubscribe by replying with the word "STOP."
I had originally thought that the plugin sent text messages to users when a new page was published. However, the max. 160 character text messages are input via the C5 dashboard. You enter your information and it is sent. Perfect for my purposes.
My only issue with unsubscribing was that the implementation was on a site which was not public quite yet. I had to uninstall the plugin to stop the numerous bounces back to the mail server. Not a big deal.
Also, make sure to place the Unsubscribe block on a page for your users.
The Concrete5 site is hosted locally on Ubuntu Server 10.04LTS with all mail relayed to Exchange Server. Works well.
