Could this be used as a solve for hosting solutions where storage is ephemeral?

Permalink Browser Info Environment
I've been thinking of hosting a C5 instance on Heroku, but the ephemeral nature of their instances means files/ will get wiped with every deploy.

- Can this affect assets normally uploaded for the site?
- Can this be preconfigured or is it exclusively db configured?

Hey Jereme,

1. Yes, set it as your default storage location
2. Storage Locations currently store their options as a serialized object in the DB

Just one thing to know, there is an issue where generated thumbnails show up locally in /files, you can follow https://github.com/concrete5/concrete5/pull/3586/... for progress on getting that fixed.
