Footer blocks

Sorry if this is a basic question but how do I make the footer blocks 1x full width instead of 4x small ones.
I've got as far as editing footer.php so now only have 1 block but am struggling to make it full width.

Change the class of the div that currently says "grid_4" to "grid_16"
