Genesis Theme not showing desktop view on desktop
Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hi I am having difficulties trying to troubleshoot this error.
Villagefare.ca website was published and working fine as desktop view. Then a few weeks later it is now only showing mobile view on the desktop. I have tried google chrome, internet explorer and not sure why it may be doing this while there was no settings changed?

Hi James,
I have reuploaded all the original css files from the theme, just incase.
Doesnt seem to fix the issue.
The only addons i added was HW Store Location, but the site was working fine a few week afterwards when that addon was installed.
I have been very puzzled by this, as I didnt make any changes for a few weeks and it just started to show in mobile view.
This is hosted by my godaddy reseller hosting account... and I did switch the primary domain to villagefare.ca...originally I created the site using villagefarefoods.com. But like I said all was working fine for a few weeks. I even tried jumping back to older version of the site to see.

Hi James,
I got it back showing in desktop view.
When I switch the Cache & Speed Settings to off. Then it shows properly. But ideally I would like to have those settings "ON"

Hi
I am glad you figured it out. This is the first time I have encountered a problem where the cache forces the site to mobile view. Can you try turning the cache back on and clearing the cache afterwards?
If the problem still persists, maybe you can grant me temporary access to your site so I can look into it more?
Kind regards,
James

Hi
Did you try clearing the cache? The cache seems to be the whats causing this for some other themes too.

Hi James, Regarding this issue, I have had her site settings set as off. I would like to have the cache settings on. It is the temporary fix now. Would you like access to see?
Hi asebele,
Yes, please PM me the link and temporary login to your site. I will check it as sson as I can.

James

I am having the same issue on a site in development. It's preferable to have caching on for speed, but I get the mobile menu like the other posters here. The 3 Feature boxes (I think that's the right name, the one with the icons—my brain is a bit fried right now) also stretch across the full width of the screen consecutively, instead of showing as 3 columns. So for whatever reason, it seems the caching is rendering this as a mobile site.
Thanks.
Tim
Thanks.

Hi Tim
I found that most problems like these are caused by the cache. The usual solution is to first disable cache then clearing it. You can then turn the cache settings back on. But let me know if it doesn't work so I can check further.
Kind regards,
James

Still having issues. I have cleared the c5 cache (and my browser cache for good measure), but when I turn on caching (and cleared the cache again.....), I am still getting the mobile menu and view on my desktop computer. You can see the site in development athttp://vps32974.inmotionhosting.com/~mtpsgldmsbmin/...
Thanks.

Thanks.

Hi
You mentioned on another ticket that you recently migrated to a new server. Was it rendering on mobile before then? I took a look at your source code and all the CSS are still rendering the wrong cached files.
I am also thinking that maybe you could force delete the cache files in the c5 directory. Maybe the old cache/files permissions was made unwritable which causes c5 to render the old files (css/html)
Can you also check the file permissions on your directories?
Looking forward to your reply.
Kind regards,
James

Yes, I had the same issue before the site migration. The permissions on the /file and the /cache folders is 755. Which files would I delete? The .lesscache files in /cache or the .css files in cache/css (Or both?)
Tim
Tim
Can you delete everything inside application/files/cache ?
Have just done so.
Ok. Looks like it is still displaying the same thing. Can you PM me a temporary login credential so I can check? I'll have a thorough look as soon as I am able to.

The Javascript and CSS cache options seems to work incorrectly. Looks like it is having a problem compiling the files and saving it to cache. Please see attached. Hopefully this can be fixed on the newer version of C5. Meanwhile I'll check on my end if I can do a workaround for this.
Hi guys
After auditing my code and the c5 assets, I've found the problem and fixed the viewport issue. Please update your theme to the latest version and clear cache. You can now turn on the cache without the viewport problem

I looked at your site and there seems to be a problem with the CSS. Have you installed any addons recently? Did you change any of the theme CSS files? What were the things you did to the site before it got like this?
Looking forward to hear from you. Meanwhile, I'll try to investigate further and let you know if I find anything.
KInd regards,
James
