Exclusively load local fonts

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hi,

for GDPR reasons I'd like to avoid loading google fonts. I managed to add my custom fonts and load them successfully following the instructions in #18 / #19.
However, it seems default google fonts (Lato, Raleway, Open Sans..) are still requested and loaded from Google servers (according to browser dev tools > "sources" and "network" tab) – see screenshot.

Am I missing something? Is there a way to completely stop those requests to Google?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
This has been fixed a while ago on the master copy of the theme, but it hasn't been published yet. I attached the patch to this topic so that you can use this on 2.4.0:

1. Extract/Override the attached file.
2. After logging in, on the topbar, click on:
Cog icon > Design: Theme(Customize) > Preset (Choose NO EXTERNAL FONTS), and save the changes.

Cheers,

Hi shahroq,
thanks a lot for your reply and support.

I followed all the steps to apply the changes in the patch, cleared the cache (all files manually and through the dashboard) and even switched to another theme temporarily, in order to re-activate Pixel. However, the google fonts are still being loaded it seems.

When I go back to check the theme customizations, the radio button for "no-external-font" isn't checked any more. Somehow I cannot save this preset to stay active.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

Hi,
Did you click on `Save Changes` on the bottom right corner of the page after choosing the new preset? Check the screenshot attached to my previous reply.
If you did so, plz, send me a live link and your site credentials via private msg so I can take a look.
Cheers,

I just switched to the new preset and it seems it's just working fine. Would you confirm?

Unfortunately, I cannot see any improvement with regards to loading external fonts. I sent you some details via pm.

I don't see any request to google fonts on your site. It might be your browser cache. Press Ctrl+F5 and see whether it fixes it.

You are right. Only the homepage I can still see a requests to google fonts, but it's not the theme loading them, it seems to be the Owl Carousel.

So thanks again!
