Possibility with this add-on

Permalink Browser Info Environment
I need to do a page list with a displaying in Google map (or other map). This is an example of what I have to do :https://www.gruyere.com/fabrication/les-acteurs-de-la-filiere/fromag...

I'm going to create a type of page (butcher) and it will have to be displayed on the map and below or next to the map (as in the example) there will be the list so that you can click on it to get to the detail page. Is it possible to use your add-on's map system with a link to a page type?

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Hi there,

the current version of the add-on doesn't _directly_ have an option to link to a page.

However, each location can have some rich text, where you can link to anywhere page or URL you want. That rich text appears in the _popups_ that show when you click on a map marker, but currently doesn't appear under the map in the list of locations.

It would be possible with a custom template to adjust the output of the block to output this 'extended detail', but it still might not quite do what you want. It appears you want to be able to click on the location in the list to go to a page directly, not highlight the option on the map first.

I am planning to do some work on this add-on soon (to add some other new features). I could also look at adding in an option to link to a page directly from the list...

When would you need to have this ready by?

Cheers

Thank you for your so fast reply. The rich text field is indeed a good additional option for displaying other information. It would be interesting to be able to display this field also in the list below.

Having another field to display the sitemap and the possibility of linking to a page on the site would be great. This would also allow you to use the add-on map to list specific page type and click directly on the link in the list or/and the pop-up info to access the page.

Is it possible to search and sort items (map and view list) using categories or filters?

My project would be for May-June. I'm still hesitating about doing it in wordpress, but I'd prefer to use Concrete5. It's just this detail that's "blocking" me.

Apologies for my delay this time - we've just flown from London to Adelaide (South Australia), it's a lot of travel time!

I’m actually in the process of adding a ‘nearest to me’ feature, one where you type in your address into a field and it zooms in to show you the closest locations. So that would be same as the 'Ma Position' feature of the map on the gruyere.com site.

But that’s not a filter though, I’ve had others ask me about something like that - where the groups could be shown at the top and would filter the map. Let me consider this.

Perhaps check back with me in about 2 weeks time, after which I hopefully will have had time to work on the add-on and I can confirm what features I have (or haven't) added.

Thank you for all this information. Indeed, the idea of the 'nearest to me' feature btn is very good, I think I will surely use it. Do you think it could also work if you put the zip code? For example, you can enter the zip code and click on 'nearest to me' and it zooms into the map.

Finally, for my project, the direct link to the page in the list below the map is less a priority. On the other hand, it would be great if you could click on a "More detail" btn in the pop-up on the pin in the map to access the page type.

Thanks again for your quick response, see you soon!

I've had the chance to add the search feature to the add-on, I just haven't published this version to the marketplace yet.

It should work to search for zip codes, and the type of search _should_ bias locations/zip codes based on the user's IP address (and therefore rough location). But since the world shares many zip codes that are quite similar, it can often return a lot of options to select.
Actual addresses test to work better.

Whilst I haven't added an option to link directly from the location list items to a page, the existing functionality would allow you to add a link to the popup on the pin, with any text of your choosing, so that's already available as an option.

At this point I reckon it would be good if you tried out what I've developed so far - I'm quite happy for you to test it out, provide feedback etc. And if you then decide to use it, you could just buy a license at that point.

Could you send me an email to ryan@mesuva.co.uk - then I'll send you a copy of the add-on with this addition to test out.
