New Installation_Need New Blog Page and Blog Entries / Comments

Permalink Browser Info Environment
I just installed Pro Blog but I must have messed up some pages because everything was mixed together wrongly. So I am started from the beginning by deleting my Original My Blog page.

Objectives:

1. I am attempting to add a “My Blog” page that is included on the Homepage NavBar next to Home and About

2. I am attempting to make my first post on the “My Blog” page that allows for comments and tags

3. Slides #2 and #3 include my current Homepage and About Page

4. Slides #4 and #5 are the Sitemap and Pro Blog screens from the Dashboard

I am going to review all the slide presentation material and attempt to achieve this objective this evening.

My problems have been:

1. When I add a page, it is not showing up on the NavBar of the homepage

2. Neither the new My Blog page nor the Blog pages connected to the My Blog page have a NavBar that shows Home, About and My Blog

Thank you!

Next attempts:

I have added "Blog" to my Homepage NavBar (slide 7)

But the NavBar is missing on the "Blog" page (slide 8)

And the Blog page, posts and entry are not sync of look like the ones in the demo tutorials (slides 8 and 9)

I will keep working on it later.

couple things:

1.) the blog is intended for you to post pages (posts) underneath a section (your blog page). By default I think they are simply excluded from nav.

2.) for the nav bar missing...this is dependent on how you made your template. but you can rebound and fix that error by going into your dashboard, pages and themes, page_types, pb_post page type defaults - and adding a nav bar. you will need to push that change to any children already present that you wish to reflect that change, but all new pages of that page type will reflect the new nav.

Thanks, Chad,

I was able to accomplish #2 above. Now, back to reviewing your videos so I do this right!

I appreciate all your assistance.

Okay, I fixed #2. My challenge now is:

1. I added a new Right Side Bar page type

http://s905.photobucket.com/albums/ac252/KACarterGroup/?action=view...

And Name it "My Blog" and manually typed in the alias/handle "blog_entry"

2. I get a page with the website title and header nav but the only text on the page is :

My Blog
Posted by Kevin on January 3, 2011

- I then go into edit I do have the following options:

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac252/KACarterGroup/Picture1.png...

3. When I go into the ProBlog menu on the BD, I get "No blog entries" in the List function and "No sections defined. Please create a page with the attribute "blog_entry" set to true." in the Add/Edit function

I am assuming there is something wrong with my "My Blog" page type.

Thank you!

And as soon as I figure out how to post in a picture instead of a link, I will :)

Edit: Ouch, how stupid ... I didn't have the Blog Section checked ... I am off to the races!

Until next time :)
