Realistic assesment of when update to 2.0 expected?

I think it would be very valuable to people if you could provide a realistic assesment of when you will be updating this to be compatible with E-commerce 2.0+.
What is the time frame at this point in time? You can always revise if things change on your end of course, but at least give us a clue (and give yourself a target). This way we know, if it's not going to happen any time soon, to look at other possible solutions.
Thanks

Maybe, maybe not. My own opinion is that the lack of questions about it is not necessarily a good measure of the potential interest (or lack there-of). Most people won't bother asking or inquiring.
I couldn't find any affiliate add-on other than this, and I would guess a good one would be a "big deal". The shopping cart tracking also is valuable, IMHO, to anyone serious about E-Commerce.
Anyway, at least now you've made it clear so that any other developers who might consider developing something like this knows. Hey, it's wide open... no competition in the C5 space.
Anyone interested?

Owen,
We have a different but fully-featured affiliate package we've developed, but it's not quite ready for marketplace yet.
If you want to be notified, please let me know at ryan@striderseo.com

Ryan, thank you. I will email you to be notified (even though I would likely find out about it pretty quick). In my comment to Scott I was inferring that it seems like (generally speaking) someone would in fact develop an affiliate app, so it's good to now know someone else is. I think it's also a good thing (and a good sign) for the Concrete5 platform and community as a whole. I don't think it's unreasonable to consider that the lack of such functionality could be a reason some might go another direction.
Yeah everything is pretty much wide-open in the marketplace as it is. I am incredibly busy with other hourly client work and i wrote this when I was in a lull right around the holidays a few years ago, they upgraded to 2.0 and I just figured that it really wasn't worth continuing work on. I could pour another 30-50 hours into this and make it really awesome, but the idea of writing an addon also dependent on another add-on just isn't something I can justify the time for. I think i wrote this version in about 12-16 hours.
My total sales for this:
eCommerce Affiliate and Shopping Cart Tracking 20 $337.50
So yeah.. I totally get the value in the add-on and the idea behind it.. but for the sales volume and perpetual support requirements it really isn't worth it.
I'd be more than happy to write an add-on built on top of this feature set for anyone else absolutely specific to their requirements for their particular use case with additional cart tracking and whatever anyone else could possibly dream up.. at my hourly rate.
A lot of really complex add-ons (not that this one is) are somewhat financed by someone that asks a developer to create an add-on and gets a reduced hourly rate in exchange for re-sale rights.. then that's a different story. You still end up buying something that was intended more or less for someone else's ecommerce requirements and you spend a fortune wrestling it into your needs.
But something like this should really cost almost as much as the ecommerce license itself, and with their being an eventually free lite version you can maybe see where I am coming from,
Also writing an add-on dependent on another add-on I think really limits your market of potential customers and I had secretly hoped that ecommerce itself would take on some of this as part of its core.
Franz if you are reading this and you'd like for me to work on integrating some of these features into ecommerce itself you have my phone # and email address :)

Scott, thanks for what is definitely an insight into the perspective from the developers side. Of course the current workload is something anyone should relate to. While the sales volume certainly doesn't seem encouraging (especially with support factored in), I would agree with you that maybe it is an indication you were under pricing it. Certainly if it were being maintained and compatible with the latest, I think sales of this type of add-on would not be affected by charging a reasonable amount more. I agree as well that this is in fact the type of functionality that does lend itself to many different levels of what can be done, different features, etc. So, maybe different versions with different pricing options? I've noticed Chad does this.
And of course over time I believe it's going to get better and better (as a result of Concrete5 as a whole gaining more and more popularity).

I could be wrong but I don't think the effort is worth it for me at the current time. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure that this is the first email i've received about this package in the last month or two or even in the current year.
