Upgrade to concrete v9+
Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hi.
We're currently running Grand Gallery on concrete version 8.5.7.
Is it possible to upgrade to concrete version 9+ and a compatible version of Grand Gallery? (i.e. is there a version of Grand Gallery that's compatible with both version 8.5.7 and version 9.x).
Thanks.

Hey, thanks for getting back to me so fast.
So I would do this:
1. Upgrade concrete to version 9 - this will be a manual upgrade. You are sure there won't be any php errors with Grand Gallery 1.6.1 installed?
2. Overwrite /packages/grand-gallery with the latest version
3. Visit /dashboard/extend/update where I will see the new version of Grand Gallery and be able to run the update
Thanks!

Yeah, something like that (though I haven't tested direct upgrade of Concrete* - not sure if it is still not officially supported?).
But in theory Grand Gallery should behave like any other package - nothing should happen.
Best way is to update Grand Gallery just after you finish updating Concrete.
Do not edit any Grand Gallery block before you update package and you should be fine**.
* I have only tested installing 1.6 on Concrete 9.1 - it installed flawlessly (but you won't be able to edit blocks till update) - so go ahead
** Do site backup first anyway, but I guess you are already doing it :)

There isn't a version of Grand Gallery that works in both 8 and 9.
Highest available version for Concrete 8 is 1.6.1
Highest available version for Concrete 9 is 2.0.4
If you upgrade your site from 8 to 9, then Grand Gallery will be upgrade'able to 2.x version.
For versions 2.x I have set minimum requirement of Concrete 9.0.0.
1.6.1 is quite stable for a long time, so it probably won't receive any updates in future (maybe some bug fixes if necessary).
If any new feature will be added, it will be only available in 2.x versions.
